Grand Tour of Mykonos – Mykonos Excursions

Grand Tour of Mykonos

As per the name goes this tour shows you a broad and different picture of the island, because we transcend from the cosmopolitan Mykonos town frequented by many to an experience of real traditional and authentic life of the island. You will be picked up from your hotel or your cruise ship and we will depart in the morning at 10:30, our first stop will be the picturesque small port of St. Ioannis, an area which was named after a small church dedicated to Saint John (“Ioannis” in Greek) and one of great historical significance next to the small port where the local fishing boats leave from. We then head to the famous Ornos beach for pictures and then Mykonos’ airport, where we will have a panoramic view of the airport’s runway as we proceed to Ano Mera Village and pass through entirely different scenery, one of the island’s most typical agricultural and stock raising areas inhabited by the locals.

From this countryside of the island and its lifestyle, we will head towards the Ano Mera village square to visit the monastery of Panagia Tourliani and we will be guided through its chambers. From here we will reach the Mykonian Spiti traditional farm, where we will be guided by our escort. A snack or lunch is offered to anyone who is interested to get a taste of the local products from the traditional farm itself, consisting of bread, tomatoes, kopanisti, cucumbers and poor man’s black olives. We will head to the most distant beautiful beaches of Mykonos, named “Kalo Livadi”, “Kalafati” and “Agia Anna” for some photos and then we will go to the panoramic view of Mykonos town in order to take some amazing photos of the town.

Following the picture taking we will visit the Mykonian Farm to enjoy a traditional homemade lunch and to experience the traditional Greek way of life, the culture, the Greek art of cooking. Your host, Teta, will wholeheartedly invite you into her beautiful Mykonian Farm and create a charming and intimate afternoon or evening that will turn this visit to the “Island of the Winds” into a highlight of your trip. Right after your traditional lunch is over, you will be dropped off back to your hotel for a two hour relaxation, before we pick you up again at 18:00, and head towards the Mykonos town. Or you will be able to stay at the Farm until we continue with the Walking Tour. Our escort will accompany you and share his knowledge and stories of the place.

During the walking tour, you will pass Manto Square, where the famous monument of Manto Mavrogenous stands, Right after you will head down the famous Matogianni  shopping area, where you will find clothing and footwear shops of famous fashion brands and you will see attractions such as the 3 wells, the home of Manto Mavrogenous’ mother and the Maritime Museum. Crossing the narrow winding paths, through the castle of the Chora and the Scarpa area where ‘Little Venice’ is located, which is famous for its picturesque medieval two and three storey houses (you will have 15 minutes free time here), you visit the elaborate church of “Panagia Paraportiani”, one of the most famous architectural structures in Greece and get to see the Folklore Museum.

Excellent tour!

This tour was a great way to cover a lot of Mykonos. It was great to get beyond the crowds of Mykonos Town and see parts of the island where the locals live. Out visits to a monastery and to a farm were both very enjoyable and interesting.

Fa-nta-stic!!

What a fantastic trip!!! Our tour guide and the driver were wonderful. My husband and I heard about the local highlights both past and present, we were able to take pictures at several scenic spots (no blurry drive by photos on this trip) and experience the island without the stress of a large tour bus on very narrow roads. We also stopped at the beautiful Church of the Virgin Mary. Don't skip the museum. Also don't be afraid to ask to visit the small little shopping area near the church. Being on a small tour allows you a little more flexibility than the large group tours. My favorite part was visiting the farm and winery. I enjoyed the small tour and description of how the farm came to be and how they are planning to produce grapes for a small winery. Additionally, the small snack more like a small meal was AMAZING!!! Two other couples that were on the same tour but in a different vehicle joined us for the meal. We had a traditional Greek snack on the terrace. The feta!!! The fresh feta, tomatoes, cucumbers, olives and the tzatziki (yes, there was more but I can't list it all) was absolutely delicious and it was nice to slow down to make new friends over a meal. I nearly forgot to mention the dancing. It was great fun wrapped up with lots of laughs and applause in honor of our own awkwardness They have big plans for future tours and wine production which make me want to book a trip back already. The tail end of the trip was wrapped up with a few more photo stops and lots of laughs as we all took individual and group pictures. This was one of my favorite tours on our trip.

Exceptional!!!

I was on a cruise and took several tours - this tour, by far, was my favorite!! When my cruise ship pulled in to port in Mykonos, we were not in the port that we were expected to be in - and where I was to meet my tour guide. Someone on the cruise ship called the tour and explained my situation and they said not to worry about it, they would meet me where I was - which was great! There were 6 of us touring Mykonos in a van - we toured the tourist areas of the island - stopped in several areas for photo ops - and then toured the farmland - where the residents are. We had a wonderful meal at the home of a local farmer, toured the farm - animals, herbs, fruit, vegetables - all locally grown. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and fun! She told us about the history of Mykonos, explaining much of the culture, and gladly answering questions - I highly recommend this tour!

Mykonos is where the Heaven is, the town is so beautiful, friendly, shopping is great and if you are looking for night life or restaurants , relaxed or wild Holiday, this is the place to be.

Very accommodating staff! Great guide! Excellent tour!

We almost missed the tour. I failed to confirm in advance, and we were also late getting to the meeting location, so we got off of our cruise ship and meandered around. I called to apologize for missing our pick up, and they said "where are you, we will send someone to pick you up". I was shocked that they even cared! We got lost going to the new pick up spot, but someone in the office walked us through some directions to get there. Our guide, Anastasia, was very friendly and incredibly knowledgeable! The scenery along our drive and at our stops was fantastic. I felt like we were on a tour with a personal friend, Anastasia knew about everything, and had great stories and information to share. My teenage daughter's favorite part was the organic farm and freshly prepared lunch. It was a day well spent and well worth the cost.

Off the Beat and Path

Great way to see Mykonos from the eyes of a local. The farm was the best part and lunch was superb. So fresh, from the garden. Only regret was not seeing the popular shopping destination

Incredible Tour

A bit hard to find our tour guide, but once we did, it was fabulous. Our guide was of course from the region and was very knowledgeable. The farm tour was fun, and the owners very hospitable and the mini meal they served with fresh tomatoes and cheese and stuffed grape leaves was so fresh and delicious.
